What Meal Plans do you offer?

We offer a variety of meal plans to meet your on campus dining needs. Check out our Meal Plan page for a full list of offerings.

Who should purchase a Meal Plan?

Meal plans are geared specifically to give you better dining value for your dollars. Every student may sign up for a meal plan. Residents who live on campus, in Longwood Landings, Lancer Park, and Longwood Village must sign up for a meal plan. We recommend commuters signup early to receive the full benefits of a meal plan and may use the designated form here: Commuter Meal Plans.

What is the difference between a residential and commuter student?

Longwood Dining considers any student living on campus or in Longwood managed properties (i.e. Longwood Landings, Longwood Village, Lancer Park) to be a residential student. Any student not living in Longwood housing is considered a commuter student.

How does a Meal Plan work?

Meal plans have two components: meals & bonus dollars. Longwood Dining offers two different types of meal plans: weekly, and block plans.
  • WEEKLY MEAL PLAN: A specific number of meals you can use each week for an entire semester at Dorrill Dining Hall and at Outta Here for to-go meals. Any unused meals do not carry over to the following week; the meal plan resets before breakfast Monday morning.
  • BLOCK MEAL PLAN: A lump sum of meals you can use any time during the semester at Dorrill Dining Hall and at Outta Here for to-go meals.
Bonus Dollars are tax-free dollars that supplement your meals. Bonus Dollars can be spent at all Longwood Dining locations including: Dorrill Dining Hall, Longwood Catering, and all Longwood Dining retail operations. Bonus Dollars transfer from fall to spring semester if you have a meal plan both semesters. Your Bonus Dollars must be used by the end of spring semester as they do not transfer to the next academic year. Additional Bonus Dollars cannot be added during the semester; however, in addition to Bonus Dollars all dining locations also accept cash, credit, and Lancer Ca$h. USE YOUR BONUS DOLLARS!!!

Do I need my Lancer ID to enter the Dining Hall?

Your meal plan is accessed through your student ID Card.Bonus Dollars and guest meals may also be used from your LancerCard. Bonus Dollars, Cash, Lancer Ca$h, and Credit are additional accepted forms of payment.
If you lose your LancerCard, protect your account by immediately marking your card lost. You can do so online at www.longwood.edu/lancercard or contact the LancerCard Center during normal business hours. They are located in room G22A Lancaster Hall or you can email lancercard@longwood.edu. After hours, you can also contact Campus Police at 434-395-2091.

Can I change my Meal Plan?

Yes, through the add/drop period each semester residential and commuter students can make meal plan changes, either “up” or “down”, with no proration of charges.
No changes in residential meal plans will be allowed after the add/drop period.
Commuter students may add meal plans at any time in the semester, but must pay full cost for the plan.

Can I carry meals over to the next week?

It depends on your plan.
  • Weekly Plan = All meals not used during the week will not carry over to the next week; the meal plan resets every Monday morning.
  • Block Plan: Set number of meals to use however you wish throughout the semester; additional meals cannot be added.

Will my meal plan carry over from the fall to the spring semester?

Residential Students: Students: Unless an online adjustment is requested, the spring meal plan selection will remain the same as previously selected during the fall. For Residential Students to change your meal plan.
Commuter Students: You must sign up for a meal plan each semester; the meal plan will not automatically carry-over. For Commuter Students to add or change your meal plan.

Can I treat my friend to a meal in Dorrill Dining Hall?

A meal plan is not transferrable; only you are permitted to use your LancerCard.
  • Weekly Plans: You many use one of your 7 guest meals or your Bonus Dollars to treat a guest.
  • Block Plan: You may use one of your allotted meals or Bonus Dollars to treat a guest.
  • Meal Plans are loaded onto your ID card and are not transferrable.
  • Guest meals may only be used in Dorrill Dining Hall.

Can I use more than 1 meal in a meal period?

Meal plan meal access varies with meal plan type. Meal plan holders may not use a meal swipe in Dorrill Dining Hall and in Outta Here during the same meal period. Outta Here does not accept guest meals or meal swipes for friends or for anyone other than the meal plan holder. Students are allowed only one meal swipe per meal period in Outta Here. This applies to all meal plans.
1. Weekly plan holders may access one meal per meal period. 
2.Block plan holders do not have meal access restrictions in Dorrill Dining Hall.
